KOUANG C
Charles Kouang known as Kouang C; is a self-taught French artist of Cameroonian origin, born in 1981. Today, he lives and works in Paris. A former publicist, he began his artistic career at thirty-two, driven by his revelation for abstract art with in particular the theory of the Spiritual in art of Vassily Kandinsky as a figurehead or Abstract Expressionism, a post-war movement, from which the avant-garde artists Willem de Kooning came, Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko.
These influences are all references that have shaped his creative process, his philosophy and his pictorial technique over the years. Through color, gesture and material, he characterizes his works by comb stroke; applied to the canvas like an extension of his hand, expressive brushstrokes, granulated materials that form attractive reliefs, textures and vibrant colors. He brings forth from his paintings, intense fragments intended to awaken the unconscious of those who look at them.
His works question the issues that surround us, such as human relationships, social influence, the primacy of the individual or the fatality of passing time. Thanks to his freedom of expression, his chromatic research and his approach to volume, he delivers in his paintings, his vision of society with energy, where themes intersect, intertwine and coexist to open up to a spiritual dimension. strong, graphically transcribed.
"I want to awaken the subconscious of the spectator as an actor concerned by his life in society by visual and spiritual emotions"
Its hyperbolic shapes and colors - contrasting, vivid and vibrant - awaken the viewer's subconscious and resonate with their soul. The consistency-color-fragment relationship is at the heart of his artistic approach.
